Hoonah culture-bearer J. B. Fawcett (1889-1983) (Tseexwaa) was a baseball “player and manager for the Hoonah baseball team called the ‘Alaskans.’” (Dauenhauer and Dauenhauer, 1994).
The Western Queen was captained by Richard Bean and then Victor Bean, Sr. and the Yankee was captained by Joe White, then John Hinchman, Sr., Paul Rudolph and Jumbo James, Sr.
The Karen Jean was captained by Joe White and then Jerry White, Sr. The boat was named after Karen and Jeanne Hinchman as the granddaughters of Joe White.
