Alaska Southern Fish and Fisheries Cannery Map 1941

Summary:
This map shows the locations and names of the salmon canneries that were operating in Alaska in 1949.
Description:

It becomes clear from this map the importance that the salmon fisheries had on Alaska in 1941. It was the major export item for the territory at the time even though fish numbers were already starting to significantly decline. Fish companies put political pressure on Washington DC politicians to increase the number of fish traps that were already allowed and they wanted their fish trap locations put closer to the mouth of major salmon rivers.
