Duain White, U.S. Army 2012-16

Duain White served in the US Army from 2012-2016. He was stationed in Fort Irwin, California in the 1st squadron, 11th armored cavalry.

Duain White was a Specialist with the U.S. Army and went to boot camp at Fort Benning, Georgia.  He spent most of his service in Fort Irwin, California where the hot season lasts from June to September, with an average daily high temperature above 90°F.  In addition to the high temperatures, “sharp cactus and barren rocks” he found Fort Irwin to be a far cry from his home in Southeast Alaska.  Mr. White initially joined the service to acquire experience which would eventually help him to qualify to become a law enforcement officer.  He became a policeman in Juneau, Alaska in July, 2019.
