Description: 

Paul “Koosh” Smith Jr. served in an artillery unit with the United States Marine Corps in Camp Pendleton, California.  He later served as a Lance Corporal in Okinawa, Japan.  He was a clerk and was promoted to chief clerk before he left the service. 

In December of 1973, after attending Military Police school, his brother Moses Smith came out of a movie theater where he had watched the film Billy Jack and to his surprise saw Koosh.  He yelled out “Brother!”  Koosh was his brother in the flesh, and a brother Marine.

Mr. Smith was a commercial fisherman after he left the military and was a member of the Alaska Native Brotherhood Camp 12 for many years, serving in different capacities including Sergeant at Arms. Mr. Smith was also known to regularly serve as Color Guard for various events and ceremonies.
