Description:

Darlene (Lindoff) Barril

Darlene (Lindoff) Barril was from the Eagle moiety Kaagwaantaan of the Box House. She was T'akdeintaan.

Her Tlingit name was Ahl'it Kwei.

Born May 16, 1964, she was raised in Hoonah and attended Hoonah schools until she moved to Juneau, where she lived for 30 years.

She worked as a logger for Southeast Stevedoring and as a fish processor for the Hoonah fish cannery. She worked many years as a proxy worker for Huna Totem Corp. and Sealaska Corp. during elections, as she was a strong believer in supporting and preserving Native corporations for the future generations. She also worked as an elder caregiver.

According to her family, she loved to go fishing and hunting but attending Gold Medal basketball games was always her favorite. She frequently joked that she wanted to get married at half-time of a Hoonah game during Gold Medal because the whole family would be there.
