Waterfront

After the fire of 1944 the U.S. Government heard of the devastating loss of homes and donated homes en route to Guam intended for war relief. Eighty homes were built and are known as "War Homes."

Hoonah homes lined the waterfront prior to the fire of 1944. To the left would be the store and to the right would be towards downtown.
