Harry Marvin and William Johnson shown dancing. William Johnson was the last Hoonah resident with the Guwakaan (peace maker) designation.

Cultural Narrative:

These men are thought to be dancing the Deer Song at what appears to be a ceremony. The people have their important regalia out, the head dresses and masks indicate it was an important event.

Traditional Knowledge:

Jacob Pratt, Sr. was a Kaagwaantaan, Eagle Wolf clan, and designated as a Guwakan. William Johnson and Johnny James were Raven Guwakan.
