Traditional Knowledge:
The large work basket was woven with the between weave style. The upper inch or two is adorned with a skip stitch design. Handles made of leather thong have been woven into the upper area. This basket shows that it has been well used; note the repair done to the lower area. The lighter color of the spruce root stands out where newer root repairs a small tear.
The hat may actually be a hat cover made to protect a ceremonial hat during storage.
