Alaska Coastal Plane in Hoonah

Summary:
Float plane landing in Hoonah in 1950.
Cultural Narrative:

This photo was taken in 1950 before any airplane float dock was built in town or at the cannery. Loading and unloading of passengers was done by skiff. Jeanice Welch had a float dock built at the cannery to ease the process. When the float dock was not in use, fishermen used it to offload their gear to work on it and to pull nets off to repair holes.
